C.H.A.S.E for Life Gala

Hundreds of the region’s business leaders and a host of New Jersey notables attended a fund-raising gala to celebrate the vibrant growth of C.H.A.S.E. for Life (CPR, Heimlich, Awareness, Safety Education) late last month. This nationally recognized 3-year-old non-profit is on a mission to empower anyone with a hand on a child with the basic lifesaving skills needed to sustain a life until help can take over.

The event, “Viva La Chase,” took place at the home of Rick and Melanie Frick in Rumson, NJ. 340 guests celebrated with a chic fiesta featuring Hispanic culture, cuisine and music for the recent translation of all of C.H.A.S.E for Life’s CPR and Choking Maneuver resources into Spanish. The event raised $100,000.

Honoree, New Jersey State Senator Joseph M. Kyrillos, was praised for his unstinting support of the organization since its inception and Aetna along with Wachovia Securities were thanked for being the lead event sponsors for the third year in a row.

Farley Boyle,
Founder/Executive Director of C.H.A.S.E for Life, said, “We have the remedy for this global social problem. We have removed the barriers preventing people from getting educated about CPR and other life saving techniques by offering free, engaging educational materials that everyone can have access to.”

Ms. Boyle, whose 2-year-old daughter survived a near-drowning in 2005 because her husband had taken a for-pay, elective infant/child non-certification CPR course, said, “I decided to give back by making a positive out of a negative thanks to our happy ending. It proves that CPR really works, whether you are certified or not.”

Co-chars were Jennifer Borenius and Amanda Haytaian. C.H.A.S.E. has educated more than 5,000 people locally in free hands-on CPR and choking maneuver workshops, and thousands more via their website. Proceeds from this event will enable C.H.A.S.E. to launch a national safety and awareness campaign spotlighting Paddy the Penguin, the organization’s beloved mascot, while simultaneously marketing the availability of their Spanish resources."
